Minerals & Crystals from Africa

-
Brandberg

- Orange River Quartz

- Atlas Quartz

- Mozambique Tourmaline

Brandberg, Namibia :

These crystals have wonderful clarity and sparkle. This tends to be their "trademark" and they often have Phantoms of Amethyst

and/or Smoky Quartz. Sometimes they have "water bubbles" which are termed "Enhydros", many of which move with varying

ranges of movements.

They are so clear , it is difficult to capture the presence and "light" that they emit. They look just like water, that has frozen !

Brandberg Quartz is highly sough after and generally is scarce.

Metaphysically, "Enhydros" are said to aid adaptability in stressful situations. Assists in metamorphosis

and change. Very useful in Healing as it assist in bringing the body to the state one is attempting to attain.

BRAND-Q-1 :

Twin Brandberg Amethyst "Enhydro"

Source : Namibia

A Twin Brandberg crystal with moving water bubble !!!

Shows Double terminated formation but not complete as there are multiple formations at the base.

Amethyst phantoms in both crystals.

Interesting internal fracture formations and the water bubble is in the biggest crystals trapped in such a fracture.

Brandberg crystals are known for their clarity and brightness and this one is no exception !!!

Lovely energy with beautiful colouration !!!

BRAND-Q-8 :

Brandberg Amethyst "Enhydro" with "4 water bubbles"

Source :  Gobobos, Namibia

Enhydro … 4 'water bubbles' in this one !!! One large with very good range of movement and a smaller one with slight movement. Then another small bubble with good range. Deeper within the crystal another 'bubble' with good movement.

Such a great find … the big bubble easy to see, then the more I looked the more I found !!! I may find a 5th …

This crystal has a flattened 'Tabby' shape, mostly clear quartz with some Lilac Amethyst near the base.

Lots of 'pockets' and fractures. Interesting terminations with an extra one beside one of the main faces.

Also has 'Isis' … 2 x 5-sided termination but does have slight damage at the apex.

Lovely energy to this crystal with all its interesting features !!!

(Much better than the pictures show)

Orange River Quartz, South Africa :

Combination of Clear Quartz and Red Hematite.

ORQ-2 :

Small cluster of DT Crystals of Orange-Red / Clear Quartz

At first glance, this looks like a small cluster of 6 or 7 crystals, but , when looked at closely, it is "Elestiated" with lots of "Double-Terminated" crystals. It looks as if the red Hematite has been painted on to the crystals.

On the reverse of the cluster, there are again multiple termanations of Red and clear crystals.

The picture doesn't do this cluster justice or show adequately the multiple terminations
.

Atlas Quartz - Atlas Mountains, Morocco :

These Crystals come from the Atlas Mountains, whilst Brazil and Madagascar are attributed with being the source for some

of the oldest crystals and linked to ancient civilisations, this area is also regarded as being a sacred region and not

to be overlooked !!!

Quartz from here produces also the speciality configurations associated with the other regions. Its energy and clarity is wonderful.

You will see from the pictures, the amazing shapes and specialities of these crystals !

AQ-4 :

"Skeletal" Quartz

Double-Terminated with multiple terminations. Many deeper indented "doorways". The skeletal internal shaping producing some very interesting shapes and fractures which the picture only shows marginally.

Also much clearer, this quartz has a vitality and pure energy !

Some crystals just refuse to be photographed !

Mozambique Tourmaline :

Paraiba Tourmaline was called this because of the region in which it was found. Its distinctive colours of neon turquoise,

neon greens, mauve, grey-blue, etc ... were in addition to the usual Tourmaline colours. It was thought that the "Paraiba"

colours and mineral content that determined these vibrant colours would not be found elsewhere. However, this has proved

unfounded as Africa has produced some of these beautiful colours and the term/name Paraiba has now been designated as

a variety of Tourmaline and not just determined as the region where it was from originally.

We still have some of the original
Paraiba Tourmaline from Brazil … a few pieces of rough, natural material plus some

cabachons and slices (see index) with the neon colours.

Also some unusual crystal formations from Brazil and small Tourmaline crystals excellent for body layouts etc ...

The find in Mozambique has been especially what are termed the "fancy colours" of neon blue and green, fuschia, magenta,

purple with variations. The 'Neon' colours contain copper.

Here is some of the Tourmaline material we chose on our recent buying trip. I was drawn to its lovely mix of pastel colours;

bi-coloured crystal formation and due to the mica a "silvery irridescence".

Very pretty material with an etheral, angelic quality to it !
